A call to action to the cultural sector to fight the climate crisis
February – November 2021
Season for Change invited all artists and cultural organisations to host events, artworks and actions across the UK that inspires urgent and inclusive action on climate change.
In 2021, we wanted to unite the UK’s creative and cultural community in a global call to action about our earth. Everyone is welcome. Individuals as well as organisations. Large and small. Local and national. Live and digital. Be part of one of the most exciting national collaborations to celebrate our planet.
In the run up to COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021, the UN’s climate change conference, we asked artists and cultural organisations to join us to celebrate the creative climate leadership of the UK cultural sector.
Your Season for Change activity can take place anywhere – in arts venues, on streets, in schools, at festivals, on beaches, in libraries or museums and across broadcast, film, fashion and music. We invite you to use culture to showcase sustainable practice and inspire climate action by:
- Programming or announcing an event
- Commissioning new work
- Organising a debate
- Curating an exhibition
- Providing space for performances
- Hosting an open call
- Making art, theatre, music, films,
- Showing what you’re doing behind the scenes
- Putting climate change centre stage in creative and cultural ways
- Declaring your commitment to culture inspiring climate action.

Join the campaign
- Until November 2021, we invite you to upload information about your events relating to climate action, climate justice, the environment or sustainability to this website.
- We will promote these events as part of the Season for Change campaign through our website, social media and networks.
- Please use our logo and hashtag #SeasonForChange to signal that you’re part of this sector-wide movement.

As part of Season for Change’s Open Programme, our Common Ground artist Love Ssega kicks off 2021 with a powerful new call to action in his new song, “Keep Going (Just Change The World)”. ‘The Now is so bleak, but you cannot give up’ is the irrepressible hook and rallying cry for this brand new track, mixed and mastered by Mikko Gordon (Thom Yorke, Pete Townshend).
